I went to the local Chinese restaurant for lunch yesterday, and was sat next to a table of four VERY "down home" folks.
Things overheard:
"Now I love me some groundhog meat. But, it like to take us all day to run over two of 'em."
"The trick is to put them in a pan with some sweet 'taters and beans."
"Hell nah! I ain't eatin' no 'possum!"
I ate my meal, drawing comparisons to my time in China. Migrant workers from the provinces vs. Hillbillies from the Appalachians. Groundhog vs. Mystery Meat Offal. After it's all said and done, though, at least we don't hack up phlegm and spit it on restaurant floors.
